I found myself in the Fairelands again today. In a place called Harvest Home. It made me feel like I walked back in time onto an old Italy farm. Cows grazing, horses feeding, and goats running the fields. Along with a grand vegetable garden, fields of wildflowers, and grape vines as far as the eye can see. As I walked the path I caught a glimpse of long blond flowing hair round a tree. I then turned my attention to the rabbit that just ran across my shoe. I heard a giggle behind me as I lifted my foot and watched the rabbit scamper off. Turning around to come face to face with a big pearly smile, glistening eyes, golden blond haired man. "At least you are not wearing any laces on your shoes. Otherwise, you may have to fret, for he likes to untie those. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Gidion Sachs the gardener of this lovely land" he said with a smile. I took a small step back, seeing as we were just a couple inches apart, I held my hand out to him. He looked at it then me again and smiled. I let my hand drop and greeted him warmly in return. "You can call me Blue. Aren't you worried about the rabbits eating up all your crops?" He shook his head and said "Of course not they know which ones they are allowed to eat and which ones they are not. The flora, fauna, and I have daily conversations, we are great friends." I turned to look back as something brushed across the back of my leg. Then I felt a pull as my hand was grabbed and tugged. Gidion, was pulling me by the hand, behind him across the lawn. There he was calling to someone, or something named Cello. Tugging me a long as he tried to catch up to them. We abruptly stopped, and I nearly ran into him as I tugged my hand free. Gidion dropped to his knees, proceeded to sift through the tall grass. "Cello come out please I just want talk with you a moment. I'm not cross with you about the peppers I planted that extra one, because I know how much you like them." The grass rustled and the wiggley pink nose of a rabbit poked out, followed by the brown head, and long ears. The rabbit crooked his neck and seemed to look up at the fair-haired man. Gidion giggled and shook his head. "No silly it's quite all right, that is why I planted that extra pepper plant. I just wanted you to meet my new friend." The rabbit looked up at me, shook his head, then quickly hopped back into the grass and disappeared. Gidion looked at me with a bit of a frown. "Now, why didn't you say hello to Cello? He called you rude an ran off." I looked back at him, confused. "Say hello? I don't talk to animals." He put up his hand, turned, walking away from me. "Then you sir are not welcome in my garden. How absurd, does not talk to animals. I had no idea he was one of those people. Here I thought he was a friend. Oh, No, he doesn't talk to animals! Like he's special or better than the rest of us." I stood there watching him walk off talking to himself. I walked back towards where I came in. Then it dawned on me, I said that all wrong, I quickly set out to find Gidion and explain myself.
As I was about to give up, I stopped to admire the wildflowers. Magically before my eyes, Gidion appeared sitting among the flowers. Glitter dancing around him and flower petals floating in his hands. "Didn't I ask you to leave my garden? What are you still doing here?" I kneeled in the flowers in front of him. "I am sorry, that came out wrong. It is not I don't talk to animals. it's I can't talk to animals. Where I am from, we do not or unable to talk and understand them." He lively clapped his hands, the petals whooshing around him then back between them when he stopped. "I knew it, I just knew it, you are a friend. Sit, sit...flora make room for our friend." The wildflowers parted opening up a place for me to sit among them. There we sat as Gidion told me all about his friends, the flora and fauna of Harvest Home. Just before I was about to take my leave. He looked at me. "Hush don't say a word, close your eyes, and listen very closely........... Do you hear them?" I closed my eyes, listening scrupulously. Hearing a faint whisper, then a murmur, finally it was a humming, like a song. "Are they singing?" I asked, "Yes, yes you can hear them." Gidion smiled ear to ear, his blond locks flowing in the breeze. "They sing for you a song to guide you safely on your way. It was a pleasure to befriend you Blue. I do hope we meet again someday. I did so enjoy our time together, buh bye, and safe travels my friend." Just like that Gidion turned into flower petals and was wisped away with the breeze. Come morrow these Fairelands will no long be visible to me and you. Until next year, if we're lucky new Fairelands will reveal themselves. Once again, perhaps, I'll be able to slip the veil between their world an ours. Bringing you on yet more journeys of these magical, mystical, marvelous lands.
